Training Changes Blind’s Life Style

Parbata Ram s/o Mana Ram, 25 years old is residind in village Adarsh Basti, Gram Panchayat Akali in Sheo Block of district Barmer. He belongs to Bheal (St.) community. He lost his vision at the age of 5 years due to a serious disease. He has two brothers. His mother died four years back. His elder brother got married and living separately with his own family. His father mana Ram is old and only earner member in the family. His younger brother is studying in school. Parbata Ram has to do all the house works such cleaning of house, washing utensils and helping in preparation of the food.

Before intervention of Mahila Mandal Barmer Agor, he was not able to do all the above-mentioned activities properly. He was brought to Barmer and participated in training on disability at safed Akada Barmer. He got a lot of benefit from this training. He was issued certificate of blindness, bus pass and Rail pass during this training.

Because of blindness, he was out off from the mainstream of the society and people used to make joke of him. He was not unable to go to nearly house independently. The CES worker trained him for orientation & mobility and activities of daily living such as walk with the help of blind stick, washing and folding his cloths, washing and preparing food, identification of currency, chindi katna (preparing rope with the piece of cloths) Etc. Now he does not depend on any body and is respected in the society. People are not laughing and making jokes of him. He is helping in his father’s works to earn for the family. His life style has totally changed by intervention of MMBA. He is living a happy life and is thankful to MMBA, Who brought change in his life.
