Description

Beris have been a sustainable traditional source of water in Rajasthan. They are pitcher-shaped shallow percolation wells that store rainwater. A beri is about half a metre wide at the top and three to four metres wide at the bottom and can hold up to 5,00,000 litres of water.

After the advent of non-traditional, modern sources of water supply, these beris started suffering neglect and due to lack of maintenance, the majority of the beris are now buried in the sand. A beri can be rejuvenated for Rs 1,50,000.

We appeal you to donate profusely for rejuvenating this traditional water system. Apart from getting rebate in taxes that you pay you also get best wishes from the families whom you have helped tide over water crisis.
